The throttle cable needs adjusting I think...

The battery that came with the bike is too big for the battery box, which is maybe why it didn't have one?! and it's certainly weak, so I'll be buying a new one.

But otherwise not too bad so far...

Oooh that must have been a good moment! (thumbs)

Go on tell us - you're rebuilding the yaght from a wreckers yard too and you're going to sail it around the world with the Husky in the hold ready for those exotic shores ...

Meanwhile, congratulations!

Simon

Not so much a wrecker's yard as a muddy creek in the Norfolk Broad!

It was a foot deep in brown river water when I found it but it's coming back to life slowly.

Thanks Mad Hatter,

I wouldn't say it's sorted but getting there.

I need to sort the throttle cables to get the bike to idle without holding the throttle open, I messed around with the cables getting the carb off which was unnecessary but that's the kind of thing you do when you're starting out from scratch.

There's a bit of a misfire/backfire when trying to start at the moment?!

Hoping it has something to do with being cold/throttle cable adjustment but don't really know?

I'll have to start digging around in the workshop manual.

If it doesn't run without holding the throttle you need to adjust the carb. Never try that doing it adjusting the cables. There should be a (very) slight play in the throttle.
I'd also get someone to properly adjust the carbs or you might burn a hole in the piston if the mixture is too lean. SERIOUSLY !
Backfire could be mixture or ignition timing.

Thank you Dutch,

It would be a pity to burn a piston on an engine I've just replaced!

I'll ask Huskyparts and Huskysport for some advice before I get carried away with myself
