Not so bad then. A decoke and piston, new big end bearing and a bit of plastic metal for the crank case and you should be good to go. No worries. (thumbs)

Brilliant description!!!!pmsl.. That does look like the game is up for that engine, but you've had fun stripping it all and im sure have learnt a lot! and the rest of the bike still looks quite mint!!! :unsure:Dutchgit wrote:That's the reason I was asking if you'd take it apart out of interest Hu55ky.mikeyboy wrote:Quality
If there's parts coming out through the "walls" you can bet there's a big party going on inside.
Good luck with whatever you decide on it.
Re: How "NOT" to Husky
Stick a DR350 engine in it
Then:
Honda MB5, Honda MBX125, 350LC, RGV250, MTX125, GasGas JTX250, CM 644 DS, BMW R1100S, Beta Rev3 250, Beta Rev4T, Honda XL700V Transalp, BMW F800 GS, Kawasaki Super Sherpa
Now:
Montesa 4RT, Triumph Tiger 800, Beta Alp, Montesa 315

"Oh dear that is not good at all definitely need to source a s/h engine.
Have I missed how it actually happened or did you buy it like this?"

Re: How "NOT" to Husky
Hope you didn't pay too much for it...
You can part out the rest of the bike for reasonable money on Ebay or source a second hand engine.
Pretty sure you can chuck in a 450 / 510 engine as they are the same fitment, just a different barrel & piston.
The CafeHusky forum is a good source of knowledge, there's a good amount of following and racing going on in the USA.
HuskySport in Winchester (UK) are good for getting spares if you need anything.
Speak to Reece on the parts desk. He's very knowledgeable.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

I'd rather find a second hand engine than break it up for parts...
The damage has gone in to at least one of the valve seats so the heads shot :pinch:
...and some other parts aren't quite as straight as they once were :S
at least the rear shock is off and the swingarm so there's plenty to do... (thumbs)
Re: How "NOT" to Husky
I am saving up for a replacement engine!
Meanwhile... the forks and shock are being overhauled and the wheels and rear swingarm have new bearings.
There's a new sprocket/chain set coming.
And I need to figure out how a 2009 engine can fit the 2005 carb, I have been told that the rubber boot can be modified to make them fit?!

Re: How "NOT" to Husky
im guessing the 4th valve shim fell got into the oil or something, then got eaten, then the piston broke up at high RPM seizing the motor solid and sending the force down the conrod, through the crank and forwards to the balance shaft.... might have run without oil even?
ive seen some engines like this, but never that bad!
