Re: How "NOT" to Husky
Thanks for the encouragement!
The sleeves on the swing arm were on the wrong way, swapped to the inside and the swing arm fitted the frame no problem.
However, the new bearings in the swing arm link won't fit inside the swing arm :pinch:
The two pieces of the link fit together and the link will fit the rear of the frame but not the swing arm?!
I've spent a couple of hours thinking it's got to be me and my lack of know-how but I just can't get it to fit.
Back to the shop where I had them fitted...

Re: How "NOT" to Husky
Does the link have washers/spacers too? The KTM shocks can be a swine to fit after new bushes as the washers have a foam washer behind which needs compressing with a small clamp to fit into the frame.
The secret of a long life is knowing when its time to go.
Re: How "NOT" to Husky
Hello Herman,
The needle roller bearings have a metal sleeve and then a plastic coated seal at each end with a thick (3-4 mm) washer inside them.
If they were 1 mm narrower the link would fit the swing arm.

Re: How "NOT" to Husky
I took the link on one side and had a word in it's ear...
New front and rear sprockets fitted too.
The injection inlet manifold is appreciably larger than the old carb inlet...
Internal diameters are 65mm v's 48mm.
The old manifold fits inside the new with a 2.5mm gap between the two so there's some opportunity to fit the two together if I can find a suitably sized rubber hose with say a 2mm wall thickness.
And there's a box of goodies on it's way from Huskysport to keep the project rolling.

Re: How "NOT" to Husky
It's an idea Dutchgit but not one I've priced up?!
Maybe I could upgrade in the future, with the cash I'm throwing at this project right now I don't fancy the idea so much as a piece of rubber hose.
Thanks for the thought though... (thumbs)

Re: How "NOT" to Husky
What was wrong with the old motor? Bit of JB weld would have seen that running again

You can part out the rest of the bike for reasonable money on Ebay or source a second hand engine.
Pretty sure you can chuck in a 450 / 510 engine as they are the same fitment, just a different barrel & piston.
The CafeHusky forum is a good source of knowledge, there's a good amount of following and racing going on in the USA.
HuskySport in Winchester (UK) are good for getting spares if you need anything.
Speak to Reece on the parts desk. He's very knowledgeable.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

I'd rather find a second hand engine than break it up for parts...
The damage has gone in to at least one of the valve seats so the heads shot :pinch:
...and some other parts aren't quite as straight as they once were :S
at least the rear shock is off and the swingarm so there's plenty to do... (thumbs)
