Witley 100 Long Distance Trial
Hey guys see info below on the Witley 100... Anyone want to put in a team?? Any bike can do it - was talking to a mate that did it on a GS last year... meant to be a cracking day out follwing a roadbook around trails with easy trials sections thrown in...
Sunday 21st October 2012 9.00am – 4.30pm
The Witley Motorcycle Club will be running the annual Witley 100 Long Distance Trial on 21st October 2012. The start / finish will be at Down Farm, Odiham, Hants. RG29 1QX.
The circular route will take in approximately 100 miles of roads, country lanes, green lanes and byways from Odiham to just beyond the Meon Valley and Petersfield before returning to Odiham. You will navigate your way around the course using a ‘road book’ which will be given to you at the start. The road book consists of a number of A4 sheets of paper with numbered boxes. Each box has a drawing of a road junction with direction arrows and approximate mileages from the previous box. Although the event is a competition it is not a race– it is a pleasant trail ride through the beautiful Hampshire countryside.
There will be approximately 8 -10 trials sections, all fairly simple stuff like riding across ruts or a log without putting your feet down, along the way. At the finish there will be a timed special test to test your skill at speed. You will be marked for negotiating the sections without putting your feet down, stalling or falling off, and for the time you take for completing the special test.
The event will be run under ACU rules. You will need a road legal bike (knobbly tyres are recommended ie. road legal trials or enduro). As the event will be run during the day, a daylight MOT will be acceptable. The entry fee is £35, which includes £5 for RTA insurance (conditions apply). If you don’t have an ACU licence, that will cost you an extra £10 and, if you are not a member of an ACU affiliated motorcycle club, we can offer you a one day membership with Witley MCC for £2. We accept team entries of three riders at no extra cost.

Re: Witley 100 Long Distance Trial
hmmm...good post Chris, food for thought....it looks a great fun event!
Re: Witley 100 Long Distance Trial
I entered this last year, and had a great day. Didn't place particular ally well but a good time none the less.
Some of the lanes were quite technical some maybe not one for "adventure bikes" unless you have good skills, however novices on trail bikes will be ok as everyone mucks in and helps every one else.
Just considering entering again, but need to sort some transport to get down there from bristol.

I'm interested, you up for a team entry then Chris? I've never done a nav rally so it could be interesting :silly:

Re: Witley 100 Long Distance Trial
I did this a few years back, was like a a really good days greenlaning, with a couple of special stages thrown in which werent too tough.
Although a trailie would be ideal, there were old boys doing the event on post war bikes and also a few larger bikes doing it too. Something for everyone....could be tempted to enter again

Yep I'm in. How do you want to handle the entry? We usually leave it to one person to avoid confusion.Orlando_Orange wrote:so anyone want to team up for this before i jump in bed with the trf lads?
