Why not? Just because you wouldn’t does it make the thousands who do wrong?
Of course the thousands aren't wrong and there's no inference they are - there's no right or wrong, it's a case of each to their own.... if freezing your balls off floats your boat, that's fine by me 👍
That’s not how I read your comment. If it’s not for you fine. The only bit of me that got at all cold was my fingertips. Far more comfortable than touring in Spain in the summer.
I’ll take your word for it and stick with Mark VB and head south in the summer time…..South America preferably. :-))

I did the Elephant rally back in the late 60s and early 70s when it was at the Nurburgring , and the big old wooden sport hotel was still there. It does seem that winters have got a lot milder--We had to aim for the gaps in the snow drifts across the roads left by cars for the last 100 miles or so--freezing fog in Belgium, and a good foot of snow at the Ring. Done on 30 quid British singles--no chains, spikes etc--and the riding gear was crap by today's standards. Then there were quite a few WW2 outfits and those half track things with a MC front wheel. Yes it was cold, and difficult--but thats the challenge, and I have the memories and badges to prove it. Last weekend Devon John held the Yuletide rally west of Barnstaple--about 260 miles each way for me and camping in a gale---but not really cold by those old standards. I'm well in to my 70s and still like a challenge--and the turnout was really the usual hardcore rallyists--and we had a great time.

In 2018/19 I only went on one trip. Australia, New Zealand, USA and Canada. 40,000 miles ridden over 17 months on our own UK bikes.
Saw snow by the side of the road in Australia, falling snow in the USA and temperatures down to 2 degrees on The Top of the World Highway from Alaska back in to Canada so I’ve tried both thanks.

Just sayin’

Winter 1981/2. Unfreezing the throttle cables on a Sunday afternoon so I can ride home from my girlfriend's flat. I don't seem to remember being too bothered about the cold and riding in the snow back then.
