I've posted a picture of that tree in the background before now , can't find it in my posts now though. You must have come up from the Whaley Bridge end of the lane.
I used to drive a little 7½ tonne bin lorry down that lane just to get to one bin from a house in Cheshire East that is down a track by the other bridge higher up near Whaley, there is a permanent collection of bins there as access is terrible, did you see them? It's right on the boundary of Cheshire and Derbyshire. Right PITA.
Did you come into Kettleshulme and go past the Windgather Rocks?

Greetings Billy,

Yes you are correct on route. Actually the lane is currently (badly) signed to only be open to residents, probably to stop it being used as a 'rat run', Whaley Bridge is divided into two whilst the railway bridge is being repaired. As you know the lane is quite narrow, steep, there are deep gullies to the side now, possibly repair work is planned with all the cones set up.

I sometimes use the little bridge on Kishfield Lane, joining up to the Disley route Higher Lane. Crossing the main road I go up Flatts Lane, again narrow, then past Windgather Rocks, the old church St John the Baptist at Jenkins Chapel (not up the Corkscrew) and on to the Cat and Fiddle. Incidentally from the Macclesfield side Old Charity Lane was still full of snow !

It’s a footbridge with a beautiful gorge upstream to the left.
