Re: A photo you took, today
Didn't take these today, but at the Microlise Transport Conference on May 17. First time I've had a chance to look at the pictures.
First time I've seen the 'new' BSA Gold Star in the flesh. Microlise sponsors various motorcycle racers, and has some kind of tie-up with BSA.
The bike has that 'cast iron' look...could almost have rolled out of Small Heath in the late 1950s.
Worryingly, one of the star speakers was a woman called Loveday Ryder (pornstar name, but not pornstar looks). She's CEO of the Driver and Vehicle Standards Authority (DVSA). This was a conference for truck operators, but she made a point of saying that she was aiming for a big reduction in road deaths as part of DVSA's 'Vision 2030', that one-in-five of road deaths were motor cyclists, and 2/3rds of motorcyclists were killed on rural roads
We can expect some action on this, and it's not going to be popular with motorcyclists.
I'm guessing a blanket 40 mph speed limit for motorcycles on non-trunk roads.
Try not to make the stats any worse in the meantime...don't kill yourself!

Re: A photo you took, today
As I’m between bikes at the moment (which may be permanent) I’ve resorted to the next best thing, weekend in The Cotswolds with the other half & her MG, parking spaces are a bit tight!
***just like Britney Spears oops I did it again……sold the Scrambler & as of now there may not be a replacement***
Re: A photo you took, today
Off topic, and sorry to hijack the thread, but why the fuck doesn't anyone involved in "road safety" ever talk about better training and/or testing? They just seem to keep throwing more and more money at red circle signs with ever lower numbers, more and more street furniture, higher fines, more cameras, and vehicle tech. Their approach seems banal, vacuous, and futile.Richard Simpson Mark II wrote: ↑Fri Jun 02, 2023 9:09 pm <snip>

John,
When did you go "twist and go"?
You go any smaller, bike wise, and you'll be competing with our Mr Moustache.
