great pic al. tetley, i have only ever seen a jota once and was donkeys years ago, must be a rare bike today. i take it that one is early 1980s bike or am i wrong.

The Jota was a 180 crank, a proper Jota! Was W reg with 21000 miles on the clock. Probably worth £10k now. The clutch had some conversion on it so it was OK. I used to start it in the garage when the kids were in there, they would run a mile, I think they though it would explode.

:laugh: :laugh: awesome, on the whole they were pretty reliable, but of a bugger to get a steady tickover if I remember correctly.

laverda,s were great bikes,but they had big problems with engine castings , they were cast in sand and many were porous, causing big warranty claims on a small company.a company trying to play with the big boy,s with nae money.very sad.cheers al.but

Laverda made some great bikes and they left all other bikes behind on bendy roads when driven by a real man.

In the years of the 80's and 90 when I was a member of the Danish Laverda Register with close bands to the Swedish and German Laverda register, I do NOT recall any casting issues.

I remember they had electrical issues and on some bikes the chromium was seconda.

They are truly sleepers on the market but very awake on the roads.
