Rear-ended!

Found a great video then post it up here. It doesn't have to be about bikes.

The guy that ran into the back of my car (when I was living in South Wales) asked if I wanted to go the insurance route?

No. I said I'd get the village bodyshop to repair the damage, and he paid the bill...just £300.

Word got out...and a lawyer neighbour said to me...oh just say your've got whiplash and I'll get you £2000 compo. She was offended when I said no.

No wonder insurance is so expensive.

You usually get 2 'no faults' in 5 years before they load your premium.

But, it's worth asking your insurance co if this claim against the 3rd party will lead to a loading on your premium. If it will, claim the cost against the 'at fault' third party.

I have 4 claims on mine, all 3rd party, 3 payouts of minor amounts and 1 for going through Stop sign. No issues at all for my premium. 4 bikes on the policy, business use, pillion, pulling a trailer etc.

I was once hit from behind (in a car) by an ex-driving instructor, he wasn't too happy when I told him that the ex part was probably a good thing....

Three bikers were killed in Scotland over the weekend, no idea of who was to blame, but when you're in a coffin that won't matter. Suspect a mixture of lockdown easing and lack of practice for all drivers will have contributed. The local Space Cadets are going nuts round here in cars and on bikes.

Yep... the only thing that I noticed afterwards was a bit of an ache in my left arm... which has gone now. The bike is being thoroughly examined on Thursday.

But that left arm is worth money OB. Think of your extraordinary javelin-throwing career so cruelly cut short, and all the lost earnings. How will you ever again compete in the Ambidextrous Arm-Wrestling Championships? And all those channel swimming records you can't defend because you'll be swimming round in circles....

Where there's blame, there's a claim... :D

A quick little update...

Since getting rear-ended, the perp's insurance company (LV) have fallen over themselves to offer me money to repair the bike or compensate me for my injuries. However, after a thorough going over by the trusted local motorcycle shop, it turned out that the only damage to the bike was a smashed taillight lens costing £40. Not worth the bother as far as I'm concerned, so I called the chap and told him no damage.

I called up MHB Motorcycles today (as they are listed as one of only three dealers in the UK) and explained what I needed and why... the response was, "are you that chap off Facebook?"... oh, how we laughed! 😂 🤣

They have one in stock and it was sent to me via First Class Royal Mail... so I expect it within the week.
