cheap camera will give you cheap quality... unfortunately. Been there done that. Spare some pennies and buy DJI osmo action - the cheapest quality solution and the moment.
Helmet mount will indeed stabilize but you will have a lot unwanted camera movement

thanks for the additional response kinda gone a bit cold on the idea @£80 or so it seemed worthwhile @200 used or so, less so, thats a lot of petrol, if something comes along I will still consider it. how much would I use it anyway? Pretty much every spin, I have a camera of some description with me I dont always use that, I do feel that for dynamic trailriding, video captures the ride better, especially when the riding gets interesting, and then we are generally reluctant to want to stop for one reason or another to pop out a stills camera .
