I didn't know anything about what they are planning in Oxford until two days ago. I wonder if the residents who live there know? I use the A40 to get to Hereford. My wife used to work there but thankfully she works from home now.

There's a 'vigorous' campaign against it.

The Councillors behind the scheme, who didn't actually mention it when they were standing for election, are now denying it!

Even though the 'proposed' scheme in Oxford is totally bonkers because it plans to restrict residents to just 100 days a year if they want to use their car to go to different 'sectors' of the city...the even madder proposal is that residents can leave their 'sector', go out to the ring-road, then return to a different 'sector' and avoid the 100 day limit. Thereby creating a longer journey. How on earth is that saving on CO2 or congestion? :o

Note that the term 'sector' is used...reminds me of some sort of 1970's communist idea...

It reminds me more of the hunger games ! Population is divided into zones for control.....

I would like to say that 'moody' plates would be the solution but these days they can pretty much track your daily movements in the cities via the cctv or anpr systems...and facial recognition.

The idea is that in a '15-minute city' everything you need will be within a 15 minute journey by 'active transport' (meaning walking or cycling).
Which is a lovely idea, because there are loads of unemployed dentists and doctors looking for opportunities to set up shop, aren't there (sarcasm)?
We live 9 miles from the nearest town (population 13,000), and my wife had to wait 18 months for a routine examination at the dentist. The only reason she got that appointment was they recruited a new dentist! My step-grandaughter has a condition requiring specialist dentistry, and there isn't a dentist in town who can deliver it...NHS or private. She's going to have to got to Plymouth or Turo.

15 minutes my arse!

It's inside Hillingdon and makes up the southern boundary for it. The western boundary for Hillingdon is the M25 but the ULEZ expansion would go to the boundary road for the airport.
