Or they could simply top up using the 12 super chargers just outside Glasgow when they weren’t being used to ferry people. But, hey, that wouldn’t be such a story.

Re: Don't get an electric car without watching this...
There will be many generators on site at both the conference centre and Gleneagles, go to any mass event these days and there are dozens of backup generators to cover black outs and higher loads than the network can handle. I've not read the sustainability statement for the event but I bet it's "carbon neutral", on paper if not in reality. I'd expect those generators will be run on "green" fuels.
What does seem stupid is that they're staying so far away from the conference, considering the length of this conference and the cost of transporting, not only dignitaries but the media and security that follow them. The footprint and running cost of a few Tesla is only the tip of the slowly melting non Cornish iceberg.

You can't expect those who have the tough job of telling us all to lower our own consumption of energy and goods to stay anywhere other than the very best hotel in Scotland while they are doing it. It's miles from anywhere, which is a bonus for them too. And the golf course is amazing!
I had lunch at Gleneagles once, as a guest of a truck manufacturer. The table centrepiece was a 1 meter high carving of the manufacturer's logo in butter, and a whole lobster each was just one of the courses. I can see why this conference is so important to them. Especially the Chinese, who have the tricky business of explaining what entitles them to open more coal mines while the rest of the world is expected to close theirs. Probably much easier done after everyone has downed a bottle of Vintage Krug.
Just one question...who is actually paying for it all?

Yes all tickety boo. But now certain tax reliefs are being removed on EVs in Norway and if you considerAccording to NAF, tax incentives began the shift to electric vehicles, but now manufacturers have taken over. “The big drivers now are increasing selection, longer range, lower battery prices, and the EU’s climate policy. All the major car manufacturers now have a plan to electrify the car fleet. They have decided,” says Braadland.
the high import duties on new ICE vehicles here, you will realize why EVs have been so popular. This has
nothing to do with consumers 'choosing to be environmentally friendly'. This is merely consumers
reacting to price, remove the tax incentives and I am quite sure that the sales of EVs would plummet.
Especially Teslas

Just a point about "global warming" and the UK----just like the film the day after tomorrow if the Atlantic conveyor shuts down a bit it will get a lot COLDER here in the UK.

According to The Times, President Xi the Communist China dictator has decided not to attend. We can conclude from that that China will not sign up to anything, but will continue to promote coal mining and atmospheric pollution wherever it can profit from it.
If this is so, the whole exercise is pointless...but the dinner at Gleneagles will be worth eating, particularly if you don't have to pick the tab up yourself.
