The irony is, that in this modern day, the police helicopter would have been scrambled because a yob was illegally riding on the moor. Tom would have been sent to jail and not the army.
Multiply that a few thousand times, and the UK is defeated in WW2...but at least the second-home owners wouldn't have had their weekends ruined by a yob on a motorbike.
