I'm glued to the Nasa live feed tonight, to see how the Perseverance landing goes.
You can follow it live here if you're interested: https://spaceflightnow.com/2021/02/18/m ... us-center/
You can watch the approach as it happens from about 45 minutes time, and the '7 minutes of terror' a bit later on (about 8.45 GMT).
This shows how the approach will hopefully work:

Re: Martian ADV
Also live on youtube:
It's just extraordinary what's involved in this mission. First ever hypersonic parachute, terrain-relative navigation, sampling of an ancient river delta in a formerly flooded crater with potential for signs of fossil life, first ever extra-terrestrial helicopter etc etc etc. But it's got to get down safe first...

Re: Martian ADV
NASA could have saved a few quid if they'd just used a PTO post banger rather than all that elaborate titanium drilling/sampling gear. You really should have sent them your plans Soho.

Great news. Down safe. Amazing achievement. Looking forward to the pics, the sound (there are microphones aboard this time) and the science.

Ya'll laugh at my efforts, but when this is bolted on we're talkin' "Manned Mission" Then we'll see who laughing !
Joking aside, that was pretty emotional wasn't it ? I thought the young lady's landing commentary was well composed under the circumstances.
