Whilst that is good news it is not perhaps as good as it seems at first glance. In reality it won't make that much difference and doesn't come close to replacing what we have thrown away. Still it is a start.

Glass half full - we are going to start negotiations,. Hurrah!
Glass half empty - we should have started negotiations about four years ago as we knew we were leaving EU.
How many happy fish and ham and cheese sandwiches do they want to buy?

Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story Dave (nice to see you back).
EU countries were able, if they so wished, to go and purchase vaccines on an individual basis (France, Spain and Germany all started negotiations with drugs companies). They, however, agreed to collective bargaining in order to reduce costs (lowest in world) and gain (or so they thought) certainty of amounts throughout the Bloc.
Yes, they were slower, but they were methodical, and if the supplying companies had delivered what they expected, then there would be no issue to chime on about.
Our approach of a bull market, buy, buy, buy, has paid off, but it needed to, we are by far the most Covid affected country in Europe, which is not a claim to be proud of. Our "independence" from the EU has done nothing to help that.

Joining the CPTPP would deepen the UK’s access to fast-growing markets and major economies, including Mexico, Malaysia and Vietnam, for the benefit of UK business.
Joining the £9 trillion partnership will cut tariffs for UK industries including food and drink, and cars, while also creating new opportunities for modern industries like tech and services, ultimately supporting and creating high-value jobs across the UK.

Is there where we rank now, with Mexico, Malaysia and Vietnam? I shall have some special bunting made to celebrate...qcnr wrote: ↑Mon Feb 01, 2021 7:51 amJoining the CPTPP would deepen the UK’s access to fast-growing markets and major economies, including Mexico, Malaysia and Vietnam, for the benefit of UK business.Joining the £9 trillion partnership will cut tariffs for UK industries including food and drink, and cars, while also creating new opportunities for modern industries like tech and services, ultimately supporting and creating high-value jobs across the UK.
And now, Harry, let us step out into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.
