A long shot for this forum, perhaps, but worth a try.... I had planned to build a Caterham this winter but the waiting time for delivery is huge, through to next summer. An alternative is Westfield, but I know little about their cars and don't know any owners.
Anyone got experience of Westfield, and perhaps how they compare to Caterham's products?

Re: Kit build cars - Caterham/Westfield
Not got much experience with Westfields, but we built/ran/raced in the 750MC (and now CSCC) and have a very good friend who runs and owns MNR (Mark Nordon Racing) who builds/designs and sells Caterham and Westfield type cars that we ran. May be worth a look as they're road cars.

Many years ago a friend had a (1700 crossflow - twin 40s) Caterham. Popped out one morning for essentials ..... couldn't find any space even for a pint of milk and a loaf of bread .......... but it was FUN!

Apologies for going slightly off topic
Back in the 60s there was a tuning firm in north London called Speedwell (possibly owned by Graham Hill?).
They had been working on a customer Lotus 7. A friend, who did the head gas flowing, was tasked with taking the car down to the docks for export.
In the docks at some point a large lorry started to reverse towards him, sounding the horn had no effect. The problem was he couldn't find reverse gear (pull to the right and back). The car had a Ford engine and reverse just wasn't there! Eventually he had to bail out and stood and watched as the lorry reversed over the car.
It turned out that despite the Ford engine the 7 had been fitted with a Triumph gearbox where reverse was press to the left and push forward.

Slightly off topic, but take a look at the MK Indy http://www.mksportscars.com/ they’re built locally and use BUSA and GSX motorcycle engines. There’s quite a vibrant track racing scene with these too
