people seem to elect leaders for different reasons to what is `logical`.
.. the same way a beautiful lady will latch on to a lout rough yob type, as perceived by others.

BoJo / Trump ? .. for strength and protection and for getting a particular job done, possibly?

BoJo may have been seen as the strong leading Knight, against the infidel European Invaders?
A Churchillian leader of great qualities.
Now transformed to Covid BoBo .. time is waiting for Boris, like it did for Churchill, after the war, when he was rejected.

But surely you didn't fall for that, Gary? It was such an obvious lie.

on a personal level, Dave, I did not vote at all, as i was looking after my dying mother (with little/no help).
.. but YES ... I still believe that Boris will get us free from the grip of european domination.
I know a lot of people, especially on here, believe the opposite, and that is fine, as we are all entitled to our beliefs and opinions, ...

.. but one thing that will unite us all is when Boris falls victim to his own character.

UK will become free and independent, but rely on our european friends even more .. lol ..
the economy will take a hit, but recover to better heights, (with increased cooperation with our friends in europe)
unhindered travel and trade will resume.
and things will seem eerily almost like before
but

the red walls will disappear,
and so will Boris

I think that the one thing we can rely on Bojo to do is to get us out of the EU. That has always been his priority so he can protect his off shore investments and those of his friends. To be honest though, any clown could have got us out with no deal, or a very poor deal, the problem was to get us out without wrecking the economy and leaving us with shortages of food, medicines and essential workers. It is also quite easy to get us out and put us in a position of being a very weak country at the mercy of others and having to face other countries, e.g. the USA, dictating the terms of the trade deals.
More and more people are waking up to the fact that they voted for an incompetent, corrupt and uncaring government because they believed Bojo’s lie of having an oven ready deal. They also believed the lies of the right wing press about Corbin, as did many of his own party. What will happen in January when the consequences of their actions become even more apparent will certainly be interesting.

My view is that although leaving the EU is coming up fast it is actually a low priority compared to Covid.
My Wife is a Staff Nurse at a rural health centre which has 8 GP's but 1 is shielding, 1 has had a nervous breakdown and another has given his notice in. There are 7 nurses but 2 are shielding (both could retire), 1 other has just retired and now the Sister in charge has got to self isolate due to her daughter being in contact with a confirmed covid case whilst on half term holiday. My Wife is on holiday this coming week and has been asked to go in to cover but she already has overtime accrued to be taken before the New Year. She is actually old enough to retire (35 years in the NHS) and is seriously considering it. A friend of ours has already decided to give her notice in after 25 years in the NHS.
My Wife has seen patients (for a non covid reason) who have later tested positive and died but she has not been given a test, apparently PPE is enough to protect her. If all the health care providers decided to sign up to a track and trace system that actually works then there would be nobody left to provide care.
Our Daughter works on ICU in a Covid bay, a few weeks ago they had 2 patients (on ventilator), now they have opened up a second bay because the first with 6 beds is full and this is not even the main Covid Hospital in the City. She has never been tested.

Anyway, we are where we are. Wales is in a big lockdown. You live there. Do you think it will be adhered to?

Plenty of people will not bother or find ways to convince themselves its ok not to...It appears that about 50% of people just dont have the intestinal fortitude to go without a mcdonalds or not have their nails done for a couple of weeks.

I have little sympathy for Pubs and restaurants that have obviously been major spreaders when their owners come on the telly saying they know its not being spread by them because they follow all the rules...bollox, try engaging the noggin and display some common sense and personal responsibility, something that appears a rarity these days

....and dont forget we will all be paying for the payouts they got to keep em spreading Virus around even us that got fuck all

Eat out..to help out and spread it about...FFS

There are far too many bloody cafes, beauticians, personal trainers, hairdressers etc anyway, that bloke on HGTTG had the right idea

Im orf now to shout at the telly
