Plays ok with email and WhatsApp link, but not on this forum for some reason. Quite amusing though.

Spoke to a mate last night who is a leading pharmacist at our City hospitals and also part of a commissioning group within the Trust. He says cases are higher now than they were in the first wave but because they understand the virus better they know how to treat it earlier so keeping ITU beds at maximum capacity rather than overcapacity. Many of the new cases are in the 40 to 60 age group who are presenting with other problems like cancer/stroke etc who have been putting off going to their GP's. It is these other problems that are reducing the patients immune system to the point where they cannot fight off the virus.
His specialism is in children's medicine and he said they currently have 2 cases of premature babies having the virus, one of whose father is a Covid denier. Other children upto 16 years are coping well as their immune systems are strong.
Another mate of mine (51) is currently unwell due to Covid and kidney stones.
Let's hope that people don't start relaxing their own safety measures thinking that these new vaccines are ready to be used if they catch Covid ........... there is still a long way to go.
My concern is that the daily infection rate is now 2nd or 3rd on the daily news by which time Covid deniers have switched off.
"They think it's all over ........... it might well be for some"

Paronia of crowds.... Yep after being told and keeping a distance from folks for my own safety... You don't know if or when your numbers up...

Recently been seeking picturesque villages for a walk off the bike for mental stimulation and to remind myself the world isn't all bad, when I come across a crowd always around a coffee shop Costa etc I feel like running away like they are carrying the plague lol..

It's going to take some overcoming the paranoia so travel and group get together can happen again... I'm naturally a isolationist but often seek out busy situations just to make me feel like part of the human rave again...

Tonibe63 wrote: Sun Nov 01, 2020 2:08 pm Wife and I started on the ONS&Oxford University covid 19 study yesterday. Initial interview and swabs taken then another test each week for a month followed by 1 test a month for 11 months.
Positive tests will be notified within 48 hours.
It's my first day back at work tomorrow after 7 months off ........ what could possibly go wrong  .
Respect, Toni - for taking part in a valuable research study.
Thanks Dave but you give me too much credit.
My elderly Mum is in a respite nursing home for a month but they've had a Covid case this week and we may end up bringing her home for her last remaining weeks, non of us have seen her for 3 months. Also our Daughter, husband and granddaughter are coming to live with us before Christmas until their new house is finished so the offer of free regular testing was too good to pass on.
Just as an update on this ..... Mum was at the end of her 4 weeks of respite care when she developed a chest infection and was rushed in to A&E as they had 3 covid cases in the care home by then. A couple of hours later we got the phone call inviting us to go in and see her as she was in the end of life stage. Over the following 30 hours we got to spend 6 valuable hours with her until she passed away, that was the only face to face contact with her in 14 weeks. Now we have the funeral on Thursday with only 30 socially distanced guests, no singing and no wake allowed.
During this whole situation we never had a positive covid test and Mum had 3 tests in the final 6 days and all were negative.
All this goes to show that behind the headline Covid infection figures there are thousands of people suffering due to the knock effects of the virus and that is lost time that can never be recovered, the true figure on that will never be known.
My latest test taken the day after she passed was negative and now I am waiting the result of the test a week later. If the test is positive I am going to the funeral anyway but will be extra vigilant about precautions for others.
