pcp yeah .. at the end there is a BALLOON payment .. usually around half the value of the bike.
But there is a `guaranteed value` part-ex price [or final value] .. which on mine was around half the value of the bike, also.
However, there were other factors that brought that value down, .. like mileage, condition, pick-up charge, waiting/access penalties, etc etc .. and you may not get re-finance anyway .. say if you missed a payment, credit score, etc
I would go HP next time.
Used bike prices, am I missing something?.

Some bikes are bonkers price but some bikes are still reasonable value. You can pick up a 2004 to 2006 Fireblade with about 30k mileage for £3500 to £4500 ish or a 10 plate Vfr1200 for £5000 to £6000 ish.

And when you’re selling a bike or car privately.Richard Simpson Mark II wrote: ↑Mon Dec 23, 2019 11:15 amIt is when you are scraping around to pay the rent, believe me.

Re: Used bike prices, am I missing something?.
Having changed vans recently I noticed a large relative hike in prices since the last one. A bit of research revealed a big change from owning to leasing for sole traders, this meant there were next to no, one owner 5 year old vans available from private sellers. The overheads and risk for dealer then get added to the vans value.
I've always bought good second hand bikes, all have increased in value if kept in good condition. I'm now looking at buying a new bike and because the second hand values are so high it will be new. There are some 58/19 plated bikes in dealers for more than they cost new if you check what the run-out discount was. Still cheaper than the latest model at full price but WTF.
What's cash? I'd never take it for anything over a couple of hundred unless I knew and trusted the person. I had someone who insisted on paying cash on a high value item once and asked them to pay it into my bank directly, they refused and actually offered to pay more for not doing so.

Re: Used bike prices, am I missing something?.
In the past I always bought private, except for once when the dealer sold the new bike (for cash) before I could pick it up so i had to wait for another one. Always hated that guy ever since.
lately I had bought a few pups and decided to go Dealer New, not to have to spend a fortune on repairs.
That option is still open but it means being in debt again for 3 years or more.
So now, if I bought a small trail bike, it would have to be a cheap trallie PRIVATE, hopefully with all the work needed already done .. but it is a risk!
It is strange how the buy/sell market is changing over the years.
.. and also how a person's buying attitude changes depending on changing income.

Actual cash is increasingly becoming something that is frowned upon by sellers and even Banks but having available 'funds' on a debit card is often less suspicious.
I've bought bikes privately by either instant transfer to the seller or direct to their finance company to clear the debt, always at the V5 address.
