Re: Oh this is where James has been hiding
He dropped some hints on this forum a while back, good luck to him
If you do a Google search it just brings you back to ABR, perhaps an off shoot for those of us who consider themselves more of a tourer than an adventurer
cheers Spud

Re: Oh this is where James has been hiding
well I had a look through the forum... tumble-weed.... no one there.
the magazine is just warmed up left overs from every other mag that came out 2 years to 6 months ago. No new info and written in a way that experienced would get very bored, very quickly. Written more for the novice adventurer.
Big bold witting to fill up space???
Plenty of adds and no substance.
Wish them luck but, Don't think it'll go very far.

Re: Oh this is where James has been hiding
Well, it's always nice to have variety, and there's nothing wrong with a bit of competition, but I don't think ABR magazine will be quaking in its adventure boots just yet. Call me a linguistic pedant, you won't be the first, but it's dreadful. I read through the introduction and it was enough to make me wince, bouncing from "we" to "I" to "I" again, I was left wondering who was behind this venture.
Then I moved onto the first article, the Taffy Dakar, and suddenly I'm having to
scroll across my screen because the formatting has changed from portrait to landscape, and as I do so I'm thinking, "these photos look familiar" and "haven't I seen this font before?" and "I recognize this layout."
It's like someone ran off with the desktop publishing software from ABR, thought "I can't be bothered to change the models" and rummaged the bins for articles that didn't quite make it. If James has had a fall out and decided he wants to go it alone then good luck to him, but try something new, don't nick from the hand that fed you, don't make out that maybe it's connected in some way, hanging the belly of ABR, like some weird parasitic fish.
Alun, check your office windows mate, I think you've had a break in.

Free mag then it says six issues free ? if it's not tied in with ABR it should be made clear but if it's a side line then good luck to both parties.
