Ducking close call !!

Post by nethen1 »

Today cruising over rivington, two ducks took off n flew straight
in front of me, i hankered on but duck number two slammed into my mirror.
No damage, well not to be or the bike, just spun the mirror arm around a few times.
dread to think if it had hit me helmet, !
anyone else had similar close calls?
Are we stoppin for a brew !

I've had a few stupid pigeons fly at my head but nothing has ever made contact like you had with your duck escapade. Hope you kept the duck after, free dinner (thumbs)

Had a bird take off as I aproched it at a bit of speed. It flew clear over my head and left a message that made it clear exactly how it felt at that moment. I have never been so glad in my life that I had the visor down at that time. :pinch:

Hit a pheasant at 80+ (on a closed road!)struck it with the alternator cover and it got a bit messy  had a partridge bounce off the front of my glove and had to duck when a pigeon decided to do a flyby  just had a grey feather stuck in peak of my lid  bloody pheasants around here are suicidal and as for deer  nearly came to a halt one night when I saw eye shine and there were about five of them at the side of the road, luckily they stayed there

Also hit a pheasant, only doing 45ish on enduro bike whilst on a road section. Took it bang centre on helmet inspite of ducking down! Smashed peak and fittings, stunned me a little and woke with neck ache for next few days, no lasting damage. Except pheasant which lay stone dead 50 yes back. Nige

Not a bird related tale but I was once riding from the North East to visit relatives in South Wales on my R100RT. Overtaking an artic I was just coming up to his rear wheels when I saw the tyre explode and a large chunk came spinning towards me and sailed over my head by inches !
