Whisky advice from our Scottish brothers ?
Re: Whisky advice from our Scottish brothers ?
Don't go for whisky much as the blends just burn my throat and the good single Malts are v. expensive.
I do like Drambuie though and there is a 15 year old version which is lovely, a bit smoother and less sweet as the normal one. Could be a good bet if you are looking for something different.

A nice single malt from Islay. Quite soft, smooth and a nice peaty/smokey taste. Not a drink to be poured down the hatch, more to be enjoyed and savoured.
Go for a Bruichladdich or a Bowmore and they won't be disappointed.

Glenmorangie is a favourite of mine as well as Glenfiddich , they both do older, more expensive bottles too , I'm not a great fan of the peaty brands , I would think the above are a likely to be more acceptable to most tastes .....

A lot depends on how deep your pockets are. If you are giving it to a whisky lover, a good malt will not go wrong. Try something like Highhland Park from Orkney or Bunnahabeinn from Isla. Just a wee bit out of the ordinary and very (VERY!) drinkable.

Talisker. A bit different to the norm, made with the peaty waters of the Isle of Skye.

Jura 10 is a very nice whisky and is usually on offer in the main supermarkets. That's what I'd go for. Macallan also well thought of but usually a bit more money.
