The world marks a landmark event today as Mr Philip Parkinson, know to the common people as PiF, miraculously reaches his 60th birthday. They said he couldn't do it. They said he had simply launched up too many embankments and hit too many trees to make it this far. Recently promoted from Captain to Colonel, he is today at 60 ready to receive his 41 gun salute and a gold-plated tank of two stroke kindly donated by those who rode with him in adversity.
It wasn't all plain sailing for this greenlaning god. Against all the odds he mullered Morocco, ballsed up the Balkans and poleaxed Portugal, while retaining his trademark disdain for lightweight southern softies and no-mark nancies. Hundreds of tired and injured mudpluggers can bear witness to his stupidity out on the trail and to his sheer moronic determination in the face of absurd obstacles and unclimbable slopes. Which is why he is still regarded, to this day, as a pillock of his local community.
We caught up with him at the infamous Jax Shak as he received a brand new award - the "Least likely man to ever use his new bus-pass" trophy. In a lengthy exchange with our reporter he said, "It's a total pile of shiiiite". He then left on a KTM in a cloud of gravel and blue smoke, wearing a pair of clogs and a ferret skin helmet, trailing a racing 'piddie'.
