Lands End Trial Easter Saturday 2023

Post by Richard Simpson Mark II »

Well...this year I'm not navigating a car, so I thought I'd try on two wheels.
I've chickened-out of doing the complete trial...getting to grips with the navigation (on a motorcycle) and doing the sections at night didn't really appeal.
But you can do the daytime section of the trial, starting at the breakfast stop just down the road from where I live at Wilsey , and doing all the sections to the end for half the entry price!
You won't get any awards...but there was a fat chance of me getting an award anyway.

Currently there are only two entrants...me, and a bloke on an Ariel HT5...still room for 98 more if anyone is interested.

Which breakfast, the lady's kitchen at 3am after the valley ( can't remember the section name) or the cattle market ? Either way it sounds like a good idea to get more folks involved.
I made a tulip roadbook from their directions, figured I'd got no chance of trying to read all that text in the wee small hours - soon worked out you need a better trip meter than the bike odometer, still it got me 'round ok

Good luck & enjoy yourself

They've had to find a new hotel to host the finish...the planned one has been let on a 'government contract'...clearly the Gvt anticipates another set of jolly boaters crossing the channel and isn't going to do anything about it other than put them all in an hotel.
I feel sorry for anyone who lives near there.

Wonderful pics...if they don't have them already I'm sure the MCC would love to see them.

Thanks, I'd be three years old in this one so we're talking 65yrs ago. My mum and dad would build these cars outside on the front drive. Always had a full house of enthusiasts as my dad was a founding member of his local 750 Motor Club.

This looks interesting. I'll have a look and see if I can do it. Maybe the day route.
