The Stella Alpina

Post by gbags » Wed Nov 20, 2019 9:28 pm

Does anyone know the date for the 2020 Stella?

I’ve never been but fancy a look at it before I get too old.

I only own one bike and that’s a GSA. Is it doable on the upper reaches for an average rider with a monster trailie?
And would you pre-book accommodation, or what.

Any good tips gratefully received.

Cheers,

G

Hey up, it’s the Second Weekend in July - the 11./12.7.2020

I’ll be heading there on either my C90 or Monkey bike, I haven’t booked any accommodation as it looks like you can camp where everyone does.

See you there 👍

I've not done the Stella yet....tempted to do it next year on the T7. The nearest I've got is riding past Bardonecchia a couple of months ago ☺
Monkey bike sounds crazy but fun 😀

There's lots of other great routes around the area too.

Of course you can, especially if you can get it on the C90😁

My entire weekend camping kit, including my tent and "camp kitchen" fits in a 30l Oxford roll top bag an weighs under 10kg. And it's budget kit, not lightweight costapacket gear. It's what I'll be using in Devon on the weekend of 6th December.
I'd only add more clothes for a longer trip. Enough for three days and some hand washing soap.

The idea of doing The Stella was always my driving force for UK offroading and later getting a bigger bike for 'travelling' on. It was just one of the amazing trips that have followed.
Here's our ride report from 2014 which should give you some idea of what it's all about and also some pointers for further research of other trails in the area. Hope it helps.
