This Sunday - green laning - Bowland / Lancashire
Re: This Sunday - green laning - Bowland / Lancashire
there appears to be something wrong tonight... half the text on my posts isn't appearing???
Previous post should read:
Good to see you made it home ok Chris
My post earlier looks like it lost some text... I did type something about you going off to collect a van, but it didn't load properly(?)
Lesson from today: make sure you know how to repair a puncture at the side of the road, and make sure you have the right kit with you to do it - tyre levers, spanners, repair kit, spare tube, pump, valve stem puller, swarfega, mate with a van...

Looks like the forum doesn't like the emoticons that my iPad uses.... anything typed after an emoticon doesn't get uploaded.

Well, we had everything but a spare rimlock! For those wondering- the rimlock on mikes bike split pinching the tube. Upon removal of said rimlock, worn tyre kept spinning on the rim ripping valves off the tube. We gave up after tube number 3. Shortly after Chris,s AJP engine locked- not under stress so I think cam chain has jumped a tooth. I still managed 111 miles so more or less a days riding

I,m getting along pretty well with the beta using as a trail bike. Good economy, light, comfortable, I could go on.......
Sounds great and I don't miss the topend noise of a 4 stroke.

Sounds a disaster. Hopefully Wales will be better in a couple of weeks.
Regarding the rim lock. They are not needed as long as theres plenty of air in the tube (I run as low as 25 with no rim locks). Any ideas why the tyre kept spinning? Or were you just running it with low pressure?

Hi Mike, we tried high pressure without the rimlock and tyre still spun on the rim. I can only think this is due the tyre being old and worn (stretched) around the bead
from spooning on and off too many times.
