I thought it had stopped running last autumn
Regina Line, Harwich to Esbjerg, 3 sailings weekly from Easter.
you're to late for this; however there is still a little known crossing available.
You can travel from Immingham. This route gets booked almost as soon as the sailings are announced. DFDS Freight usually have 12 fare paying passenger spaces/cabins for you and your mode of transport. I think they do 2 sailings a week. :) :woohoo:

Regina Line Update 4

George Moore
Copenhagen, Denmark
2 Mar 2015 — Regarding my last post... I have had an email of Regina Line which says: (sorry its bad news) Dear George

Thank you for your mails.

In October 2014 we made arrangement with Tallink to buy the wessel Regina Baltica.

She was at that time on a charter and would be ready for us in May 2015. We made all the arrangements and agreed on the price etc.

Just after New Year Tallink informed us, that the current charterer has extended the charter and the deliverydate now was 20th July 2015.

We were now planning to start sailing beginning of August 2015 but last week we were informed the current charterer has used the right to buy the wessel when their charter has finished.

So it is not us who is the buyer of the wessel but a swedish company using the wessel for accomodation for workers on a windfarm in the Northsea.

We have also been trying to buy Silja Festival but the same date this wessel was sold to their current charterer.

We are still looking for a suitable wessel for the route, and we are sure we will find a suitable wessel somewhere in Europe, so we can start the route.

I will keep you informed when something positive is happening.

Best regards

REGINA LINE

Bugger! That's not sounding good at all. Right, back to the drawing-board. Thanks for the info, mate. I will try phoning them for the latest.

Capt. Sensible wrote:Paul, the dates I put up are not 100% fixed. If we find more people want to go slightly earlier then that is do-able. We just want to avoid school holidays in the UK and higher ferry prices at peak season, if possible.

OK, I will continue to watch with interest.

Thanks for the update on the Denmark ferry. Disappointing as it may be, damned annoying even, I now intend postponing my intended trip to the Nordkapp this year and think about Scotland as an alternative. Let's hope this ferry's up and running in time for next year. It's a gamble I know, but there again, so's life.
Haven't been to Scotland for a few years, and from memory, it was always warm and sunny. Or have I confused that with somewhere else?

A couple of years ago the DFDS ferry (which I presume they have now discontinued) hit the dock in Harwich and was taken out of action. So I went via Amsterdam. It's a bit of a haul but not that bad of a ride (thumbs) . It will add a day or two to your trip though, each way.

There are many options to get into Scandenavia from there (ride up to Denmark, get one of several ferries from Germany etc). I got the Travemunde/Telleborg ferry at midnight with all the lorries (which was nice). Swedens roads were fast and empty but very very dull. I came back through the route you propose which was infinately more interesting.

I have been given a contact name at Immingham DFDS depot so I have have dropped him an email to see what the possible options are to use the freight route to Brevik (Norway) or Gothenburg, there is a possibility if the freight bookings are light then we would be allowed to travel.

Fingers crossed (thumbs)

I will keep you posted

I went mid August, avoiding the traffic and mosquitos. It's a fabulous ride.
