North Cape of Norway via Arctic Coast Highway - Summer 2015

'Evening all,
Ricki and I put our heads together at the Malvern do last weekend and decided to start a new thread on this little adventure, partly to raise the profile and partly to keep it clear exactly what's going on.
To summarise, 'self and Ricky are planning to ride to the North Cape of Norway this June/July, inspired by Sexy Si's original idea:
The current plan is to leave the UK by ferry from Harwich on either Thursday 25th June, 2nd July, or 9th July, arriving at Esbjerg (west coast of Denmark)on day 2, ride 340km to Hirtshals, stay overnight, catch Fjordline ferry Day 3 at 0900 to Larvik (c 140 km SW of Oslo), arrive 1330 on day 3. Thence to the North Cape via the spine route, joining the Arctic Coast Highway further north. Return is planned via the same route, getting back to the UK on day 14.
If anybody is serious about joining this ride then please pipe up pretty soon (ferry bookings need to be made in the next few weeks) and take a look at the various posts on Si's original thread.
We will be getting together for a camping weekend somewhere in the SE or midlands to make sure we are all acquainted and happy with the basic parameters of the planned ride. To keep costs down, we intend to camp wild as much as possible, although we recognise that after 3 days of heavy rain and high winds we all might want the luxury of a budget hutt or hotel room! It will require some long days in the saddle but the potential rewards are huge
If anybody wants to join us from Norway or en route, then please make yourselves known.
Anyway, over to you, chaps.
Yrs, CS
