Greetings with an update.

Went out last week and I got an estimated 45 miles before switching to the main tank reserve. I think that I would still have had 0.5 litre in the main tank reserve plus nearly the same in the small additional tank. Not a problem but not as good as the Serow. The bike was a pleasure to ride although the seat is less comfortable than a Norton Wideline but my clutch hand was still fine so perhaps the change will be positive. However;

Looking for Hen's teeth now :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!:

Slightly before going on to reserve I heard a noise from the rear wheel :!: The previous owner had mentioned that he had recently replaced the rear wheel bearings as they had failed and he had made a temporary bearing distance piece which I would be best to replace. Wait, your reading faster than I can type. The noise got progressively worse as I gently made my way home, when I finally raised the bike and pulled out the axle shaft what was left of the bearings fell out. Upon examination of the hub it is clear that in fact it is damaged and the centre pop marks have not held the bearings in place so this is where the hen's teeth comes in.

Does anybody out there have a serviceable rear hub/wheel to sell please :?: Motomerlin and Richard Allen are looking for me as well.

Alternatively, has anybody had a similar failure and found that parts from an alternative model can be made to fit  :?:

I think the wheels/hubs are AJP. Perhaps not unique to the Pampera?

Depending upon how deep your pockets are, you could see if Talon or Central Wheels could make you one using the old one as a pattern.

Or try this

Greetings Richard,

Thanks for your suggestions. I did think about Loctite but I doubt that it would work except for a short period if at all. I also considered trying to get an engineering company to fit an insert but there is not much metal to support a collar.

I will be phoning TBB tomorrow just incase they might have come across this problem and have a hub/wheel but not listed. I could take the wheel to them to compare against anything they might have in stock. Mike at Motomerlin told me of somebody who had fitted an alternative wheel but incurred problems with machining spacers and brackets for the caliper. I do have other thoughts still on the 'back burner'.

Later on if no success I will as you suggest contact Talon and Central wheels to see if they have an answer that will not cost an arm and a leg.

Once I have an answer I will update for future reference.

Looks very similar to a Pampera in terms of everything except the engine.

Can any of our French residents help?

An old listing, but he does say he is breaking a complete bike

He might still have a rear hub

Richard,

I have sent the seller photos of my hub and asked if he still has the unit. Fingers crossed.

Have you enquired about tig welding and remachining the bearing seat Hugh?
