to the point.
I am considering a swop - W.H.Y. for my Bike and cash my way.
details:
R100GS;
1990 reg / 1991 model (newer switchgear.)
about 48k miles.
clutch works fine (some seems to go at about 50k / some dont - mine appears to be the latter ).
panniers and a qd Krauser topbox, panniers pretty good nick / topbox tatty.
i suspect (but have no proof) it has a higher output alternator as it, unlike any other old boxer i've had, has never flattened its battery, e.g. in winter mornings / short commutes with lights on.
Has accesory socket
Colour : very red
rear shock is off an R100r, lowers the Bike slightly (apparently) rebuilt recently - works Very Well.
Ermax taller screen.
Braided brake hose.
some history;
i got it in Frankfurt 5 year ago. previous owner said it originally belonged to BMW - not a dealer, but BMW themselves - wish i knew more about that.
it's in basically good nick for its age, but needs driveshaft.
- what's in it was borrowed off a mates bike and is on the way out - but would make it no problem to say... middle England / arse end of Ireland !
also,
gearbox sump plug threads gone / needs a helicoil? - so is held in with 'chemical metal' and lock wired.
i just use a pump to do oil changes - its been that way about two years / yes - i'm a lazy bastid!
pushrod tubes weep.
only one heated grip working.
speedo - stuck / milometer (well, KILOmeter clock) works - comes with an old GPS for a speedo.
other than that (?! ) she's in good order.
it handles bloody well, has been extremely reliable, is cosmetically good.
Here's what i'd like;
Swop for a lighter bike with luggage potential - ideally, a Givi Wingrack, that will keep up with GS’s on a boreen run.
EVERYthing considered / Timmys rule does not apply / Kaisters Observation* probably will.
I hate them that p!ss about, so though reluctant as i must put a price on - this is it; €2350 / £2000
Would much prefer to swop.
I need a Bike plus about €1200 / £1000 my way for this to work.
Can deliver anywhere for expenses.

hi,r80/100 gs.s are now starting to go for crazy dosh .having owned gs.s over many years there.s a lot of crap on the market ,today one on ebay r 80/gs £7500 re built. checck out the boxer man ,phil hawksley plays a straight bat ,cheers moto al.
