Is it a 2 person tent for 2 people? Usually a 2 person tent will do for 1 person + kit not for 2 people.

You might want to buy a cheap tent first to check the type of features you decided on.

As stated you will probably be better of with a 3man tent to hold all your kit aswell.
Best advice is to go to camping shops have a look at tents on display. See which one suits your needs for sleeping living with and if you take the bike most shops won't mind if you leave your helmets in store whilst you nip out to bike to see if it actually fits your case.

Why don't you just buy the tent that suits you as a couple then strap it to the top of your case. Simplest way

I use it for hillwalking and wild camping with my girlfriend and dog. I split the outer from the inner and poles and it easily fits in a rucksack so would also fit in top box/panniers. It only weighs 3.25kg and has enough room to sit in the porch as well as store all our gear in the end.
