Recommend A Hard Pannier Solution For Under £100?

Post by optimisery »

Hi all, I've decided that I would prefer some hard panniers on my Suzuki Djebel 250.

I've been scouring ebay and firstly came up with these Army ammo cases at £18 each.. (just needing a lick of paint!)

However they are a whopping 9kg each!

I then found these 1.5kg plastic army cases at £25 each:

But at 37 x 21 x 33 they are just not quite wide enough.

Does anyone have any other recommendations?

Must be under £100

Thanks in advance!

A lick of paint and they'd be fine , what about the weight though ?and how are you going to fix them to the rails ?

They are way too heavy so I have dismmissed them for now - I have pannier frames on the bike so am just going to bolt what ever I get to them and use dry bags inside to hold the contents.

Why not use a pair of generic Chinese-made 50 litre ABS lockable topboxes drilled to suit?

There are stacks of them on Ebay for under 30 quid each.

Those plastic one look good but are only about 25.5 litres. That's not a lot of space for hair straighteners. Also are they tough enough in a low speed drop?

Whatever you go for let us know how they fair :)
And now, Harry, let us step out into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.
