I'd try Sikaflex - it's a bit more robust than standard silicone. Got to be worth a go.....

I used to have some of that for sealing the headlight on my TVR.
It’s nasty stuff until it’s dry. Wear old clothes and sacrificial gloves, I seem to remember. Or is that POR15 chassis protection?

ETA found a marine 291 and a general EBT. A tad more research but the marine is probably better.

There is another product from proper car shops and probably ebay called Tigerseal . It's used for bonding in car windscreens . I can highly recommend it. Black grey white

I used tigerseal on my old alpinestar boots when a leak developed . It worked , cant guarantee it will work for every occasion but well worth trying.

I used 11/2" screws to reattach the soles on my ex army para boots I wear at the allotment, top fix .
