So the reply from Klim was they did not have any pants as they are discontinued and so offered me $296.69 (£215 exchange rate) because that was the cost in the US.

So to summarise:

I pay £325 for the Pants;

They fail spectacularly and are completely unfit for purpose from factory as per the certified test;

They offer me £215 but I have to spend it on their website that will because i am am in England, charge £20 for postage and £90 for tax

This leaves me £105 to spend on an item which I am likely to have to add £300 of my own money

AND I have to phone the US (more expense to add the credit)!!!!!

Then I have to send them photos of the pants being destroyed.

Why did you not do the claim through the UK retailer that you purchased them through?
Or did you buy them from the US?

I did but they were rejected by Klim as per first post. So took the issue up directly. SprotsbikeShop were great and offered to repair at their cost when claim was originally refused. Unfortunately as the gore-tex laminate was faulty there is no repair possible.

Klim have what they call a "Gear Protection Guarantee". Check it out, but it looks like its more for serious accidents.

when my Klim trousers leaked, I went straight to Gore and they repaired them - they still leaked and they offered to refund the current value (ie the discounted German prices) which I accepted. Gore were excellent. I no longer have any Klim gear incidentally.

An end to the saga, I got in touch with Goretex, they took the pants for testing and confirmed the materiel was faulty and gave me a full refund. Result!

Great news Bob.....I can vouch also that he is not a dedicated follower of fashion having witnessed what he wears at dinner once he takes his moto kit off.

And what's wrong with a chiffon wraparound in pastel, with slingbacks?
