Personally, I think these Polite jackets look stupid.
I spend a lot of time commuting to London on the motorways etc and the most visible thing I see is the day-glo helmets. IMO they're different and different stands out. I have a bright yellow lid for riding to work and as it sits high up, above the screen it gets noticed.

Hang on. isnt that the slogan for some other campaign
I read an article on the White Dalton solicitors site about hi viz and one thing mentioned was the possibility that drivers will think you are a copper, slow down and drive erratically as they attempt to get out of your way and that is worse than a driver going at his normal speed in a predictable fashion. No evidence of this, empirical or studied but its a thought.
I never wear hi viz apart from some piping on my jacket but I must admit that I was thinking I would have been more comfy with some on when I was heading for the Dartford crossing one dark rush hour.

If we're going to use myopic drivers as justification for wearing one then shouldn't we consider why yellow hi-vis is banned in certain places?
Reflective piping on a jacket or small reflective stickers on a crash helmet I can see a reason for (especially on a dark jacket if you break down at night) but I'll leave the full on jacket or tabard for others.

Re: Who wants to join the POLITE force..
I'd wear a hi viz, I've been thinking of getting one for the winter months. Wouldn't want to wear one of the Polite hi viz ones as its a bit gimmicky for me.
For me its each to there own but I think anything that helps you get spotted out and about can't be bad. It doesn't mean I don't ride any less carefully and I certainly wouldn't think less of another biker for wearing one.
Oh and I too also wear a white helmet.
Another c*ck on a bike!
