Help,Advice, Throwover tank saddlebags.

Post by benlochlann »

Hi, Instead of a tank bag I am thinking and like the idea of throwover saddlebags to rest either side of the tank, have searched the net but not come up with anything as such.

Does anyone use them whether mtorcycle specific or adapted bicycle saddlebags.

Any advice but more important, pics would be good.

cheers

Well they used to exist - I bought a set about 25yrs ago and still use them. They're about 10L capacity each side. As is always the way though I can't find a picture

I've used them in the past, but much prefer a simple tank bag. Less messing and more stable. I find them a bag of last resort when you need a bit more storage or more weight at the front.

Seb - if I'm correct in thinking your avatar is a Versys, then there's a couple of photo's on the Winding Roads site with them fitted to the Versys.

Hi Ben, Ive been useing Hein Gericke Tuareg`s this year. I got them for xmas about 3 years ago so have no idea if they still sell them! I still use a tankbag and for 2 up they give loads more space and also my knees stay warmer in the cold weather, stability wise theres no issues on mine.

Thanks guys knew there would be something out there, thanks jo i had just come across winding roads, was glad to see the versys modeling them. So looks like its a choice between wolfman and hein G if they still do them.

cheers

I got some cheap cycle panniers from Lidl took the center bag out and sewn in 2 straps
if you by chance have a 1150 the hooks that usually fit on the cycle rack hook onto the inner seam of the tank they had string ties at the base of each side to stop um "flying" at speed
Still use um but only for long euro trips = they keep the wet off and put a bit of weight up front end
HTHY :)

Hi Mick, had a look at bicycle saddlebags but as you say they have the clips used to clip on,so that was a no no for me, just changed GSA for versys. will be going to bikeshow in march so will have a good look there but have a feeling the only option out there is the wolfman and hein G if they stii do them.

cheers

Famsa is on my list of must haves in regards to tank saddle bags.

I know of a fairly well travelled dude who speaks highly of them.
