Husqvarna 701 luggage

Post by tempesc »

Hi all

I have a 2019 701 enduro and need to kit it out with luggage for 6 weeks on the TET.

Am thinking i’ll need:
- rear rack
- tail pack
- pannier frames
- pannier bags

Keen to hear other’s experiences, good or bad.

I’ve also ended up in A&E burning my forearm on the standard exhaust which doesn’t bode well for bags in this area. Anyone sorted a heat shield or similar?

Cheers
Andy

I'm not a fan of aftermarket exhausts, but I think most 690/701 owners end up fitting one because of the heat issue.

Thanks Richard - i’ll check that out. Looking at some of the racks it looks like they might also serve as a decent guard over the silencer so i might fit the racks first and see how i get on with an old cheap bag.

Kriega bags work for me too but keep the straps away from the exhaust ( unlike me !)

Im sure most of my friends/riding colleagues with 690/701/700 have replaced the exhaust and also run a heat shield of some sort.

I use the enduristan blizzard bags - they are good but the centre over the seat strap can work lose depending on the trails - usually happens over quicker trails with corregations or a series of whoops.

For info...I have a 2020 690r...same as really  .
I tried purchasing the racks for the panniers...but the manufacturers said the pre 19 racks won't fit the newer bikes...mounting point I presume
I asked if they were going to update the model to fit...not worth the costs was the reply back, so no:shock:
You may be able to fabricate the mounts, not sure..they do look nice tho..
Any how, I use These with a small tank bag.

I have used these and they are superb..you can also add another on top...be very wary on buying a luggage rack for the rear end...perun, rally Rade etc, as they only recommend 5kg max. :o as it's the petrol tank and no subframe...I put a 30 ltr dry bag on there with my tent, bag and mat in it..
On a recent trip to the Italian Alps I put a US 10 on it...it lasted three days of off roading and sheared off by the grab rails... so that's the end of that £170 rack :o
Hope that messes with your head.

Outback Motortech panniers, perun moto rear rack and extension plate.
Touratech bags.
This has worked well for me for 3 years now and recently on Norwegian TET for 6 days.
Has seen scrapes and falls but still functions and looks good.
Swapped the exhaust can for an aftermarket on my 2019 690.
