Sheepskin covers

Post by Vincent Velocette »

How do you attach yours to your seat?

The last time I used my bike I stood up to stretch my legs and forgot it was only my weight that was securing mine.

A quick stop and turn having to explain it wasn't a Persian cat I was recovering it was my seatpad left following motorists bemused. :D

One elastic strap around seat with the "top of the seat bit" having a 50mm strip of velcro soft side sewn on - Sheepy has the hook velcro sewn to underside. Rip it off to shake water off or use it as a pillow stuffing.

Mine was attached using four eyelets per side and two long bootlaces.
Also had some of the rubber anti slip glued to the underside.

I took it off, and the dog decided it looked better and was put to much better use in her bed.
🤔🤔🤪🤪😲😲😲

I must get another one

I put the Velcro on after visiting my mate Jaber from ambergate. He had his sheepy on his Royal Enfield permanently. His cat took a fancy to it and laid a large "egg" on it. !!!!!!!!!

I sewed a strap on in the middle, with a buckle clip, that does up under the seat, I left "wings" on the front of the skin when I cut it, so they tuck under the front of the seat (with a bit of pushing)...

How tough is the leather?

I want something with plenty of eye holes that I can tie in tight and then forget about.

The leather isn't that tough, the issue is the fleece itself.
I did find that tying it too tight eventually tore the leather, if I were to use the eyelets and bootlace again I would reinforce the area where they go with either a stronger thicker piece of leather or maybe some off cut from a tube or webbing
