Just as my first attempt melted in the oven I was hit with the inspiration for this design.
I started with a cardboard template.
Happy with it.
Once I made it with the real thing I realised it was a bit flimsy.
As I had a smaller bit I made a reinforcing plate.
I used five bolts as I only had five bolts.
Flushed with success I heated it (gently this time) and belt it out as it was a bit near my face.
I will test it on the ride down to Salisbury on Friday
Tonights project, a windscreen.

Re: Tonights project, a windscreen for my DR350
Thanks, I just hope it doesn't bend too much, if it does I'll have to make it shorter. I feel quite lucky that it went so well.Sand Rover wrote:That looks great and will keep loads of wind of you

Looks good, If you or anyone plays with perspex it type stuff,
Stick it in the oven, (make sure the wifes out ) About 100-130 degrees. It`ll become floppy, like a thick pancake.
Its then possible to form it quite a bit.

I tried that with the prototype but my oven isn't very good at detecting its own temperature...

Tonights project, a windscreen for my DR350 and Prototype roadbook holder...
Made this in my lunch break from bits and bobs lying around the house. Will see if it can handle the route to the Rally this evening, iff I can figure out how to attach it...

Always interesting to see what you'll do for your bike next. Screen looks really practical and relatively cheap to make.
Liking the home made route holder thingy, but is the space between the spindles enough if you have a more technical route with lots of directions? Perhaps there's a MK2 on the horizon?

Maybe you should have got the missus to set the oven :laugh:Brenhden wrote:I tried that with the prototype but my oven isn't very good at detecting its own temperature...

Bet Touratech are hoping you don't come out with any more gizmos.

Re: Tonights project, a windscreen.
The TT one was a lot of money. There is a MK2 on the horizon with the ability to rewind. It will also feature a better winder, wing nuts and securing points, rubber gromets and a fold down viewing table that is made from something more sturdy than a playong card. It might not need to be so tall either.pinball1008 wrote:Always interesting to see what you'll do for your bike next. Screen looks really practical and relatively cheap to make.

It can handle a map reel with about 150 squares on I think. I have broken RB5 down to 7 sections.
This one was secured with two cable ties and I can't think of a better solution as they worked perfectly and allowed me to slide it out the way whilst filling up.
The screen worked perfectly right up to 75mph (top speed on current front cog). Only downside is that when I go under low branches I hit the peak of my helmet on it. I just have to remeber to lean back.
Cheers all for the comments
