I need a new top box

Post by Alun »

I've just about wiped out the bank account adorning the Tiger with new gear but there's one then left on the shopping list - a top box.

The Triumph boxes are far too expensive and the one I have on the Sprint leaks in heavy rain so I'm not throwing cash in that direction. What I need is a box that is big enough to take two helmets, is durable, water proof and I'm not that bothered about the 'monolock' Givi system where you can whip it off with a single turn of the key. Oh, and I don't want to break the bank either.

Any recomendations?

Don't know if you are still looking but I got a Coocase Astra S48.
Uses a monolock type system & is big enough for two helmets.
I got the basic one at approx £80, you can get the full monty version for £130 ish which includes wiring, brake lights, alarm and padded lining.
Quality wise, very similar to my Brothers Givi.
The plate has the connectors for the electrics so I'll be wiring that up shortly.

as youve discovered, steer clear of triumph luggage its pants. good brand generic plastic is the best value, givi, kappa, krauser, shad etc.
and be careful of sizes, ive got a 45ltr honda box and even though the blurb says it does, it doesnt fit two "my size" helmets without seriously straining the hinges, whereas a 52ltr givi has no problem

Good man TT, I'm out for a ride on the 955 with the missus later this afternoon - is it okay if we pop in? probably late afternoon, early evening.
