Never Satisfied?

Post by garyboy »

never satisfied? .. what bike, which bike, tourer, sportster, dual .. big bike, little bike .. new bike, old bike .. tall, low .. heavy, light ...???

so what is it with us bikers? .. are we never satisfied? .. seeking the holy grail that never exists? .. need to diversify .. try something new .. ??
are we dissatisfied with what we got? .. want something better?

and its the same with tents innit, lol.

here is a poem or some written words that I copied from fb ... "she" could be a bike, or the dissatisfied owner??

‘She sat at the back and they said she was shy,
She led from the front and they hated her pride,
They asked her advice and then questioned her guidance,
They branded her loud, then were shocked by her silence,
When she shared no ambition they said it was sad,
So she told them her dreams and they said she was mad,
They told her they'd listen, then covered their ears,
And gave her a hug while they laughed at her fears,
And she listened to all of it thinking she should,
Be the girl they told her to be best as she could,
But one day she asked what was best for herself,
Instead of trying to please everyone else,
So she walked to the forest and stood with the trees,
She heard the wind whisper and dance with the leaves,
She spoke to the willow, the elm and the pine,
And she told them what she'd been told time after time,
She told them she felt she was never enough,
She was either too little or far far too much,
Too loud or too quiet, too fierce or too weak,
Too wise or too foolish, too bold or too meek,
Then she found a small clearing surrounded by firs,
And she stopped...and she heard what the trees said to her,
And she sat there for hours not wanting to leave,
For the forest said nothing, it just let her breathe.'

I think when people are dissatisfied with something or someone then they’re really unsatisfied with themselves or their lives.
Any bike can do anything with the right rider - all combinations have been done:
RTW - moped, scooter, R1, GS etc
Off road - ride round Africa, Asia or Central America and you’ll see every kind of bike.
Racing - there’s something for everyone.

Yeah .. there's something about bikes that really grips you even from the very start, perhaps even before you even buy one. Something that unbelievers will never understand.
It may wane and even seem to disappear, but it's always there and always part of our very identity. 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)

Just a desire to try the new stuff. If you're not going forward you're going backwards. Or so I'm told.

Going forwards is not always the best option and newer is not automatically better ........ the old 'mule' is still at the front of the garage whilst many newcomers have come and gone.
Open your eyes and you see what is in front of you, open your mind and you see a bigger picture but open your heart and you see a whole new World.

Sometimes going forward is going backwards. Not going forward is always going backwards. Backwards in time from the current moment. So the only way to go forward is to go forward. Etc. And all that sort of rot.:D

Likwise. Newer is not necessarily better. But what does "better" actually mean. Newer is less worn and in that sense it is better. Unless the old has less mileage, and in that sense older is newer.

And new could be old. Just new to you or me. One man's trash is another man's treasure.

Now I've confused myself. If you can figure this out please provide an explanation for me.
