this is another Youtube video .. more detailed, but refers to the rocky mountain one.

I got my spring from ebay .. free delivery, (whereas Racetech is in usa, and is a bit dearer, by £15, plus deliv and any import duty etc if applicable). also quick delivery from the uk ebay source.

the pack says racetech, .. the spacer is plastic and rough cut, but hopefully does the job for the rally, which has a longer spacer than the L. there is just the one spring, and the rest seems ok. but no instructions included. .. seems ok ... will check out tomorrow. :) 8-)

ps .. I used cheap (£7per litre) fork oil .. 10W .. as others have swapped out the 15w and 20w as it was too harsh.
I was told `fork oil is fork oil.`

pps you only need to do the one fork ,, ( lhs ) .. .... as the rhs fork already has a spring.

tried out the new extra lhs spring.
much better on the road .. firmer, more exact, no front dive now, to speak of.
(engine and brakes on this 250 Rally are great. much better, somehow, than my old 250L).
Off road .. yikes ,, I had my front tyre hardish, from using the soft front end, and, now with a firmer front, was bouncing violently over small and large stones ... nearly had the handlebars wrenched out of my hands. really frightening, thought `wtf have i Done!!!`.
then let down some air from the front tyre ...... much much better ... got more used to it ... a firm ride, harsher in a bouncy sort of way, but more exact. .. got more used to it again .... great !!! ... glad i dun it !!! rough back roads also are far more stable, and easy now (too high and bouncy before).
rode home with satisfied grin. :D 8-) 8-)

the extra Racetech front fork spring now balances out the tightened and lowered rear. .. lucky that, as it all only cost £90 plus a 1/2 litre of fork oil £3.50, plus a new drill bit. This will do me for now ... quite pleased, actually. though later may get a YSS rear shock, .. possibly.

PS ..... the original suspension setup is ok .. but seat height, and front fork dive, and general stability, were not suitable for me personally.
If you change the rear in any way .. you have to change the front suspension to re-balance it out.

To lower the seat height, i reduced the shock length.
I set the preload to max.
To balance out the suspension and ergonomics, I put a spring in the lhs front fork.
it's worked ok, so far.

set the forks 10mm up in the triple clamps .. yes, of course .. the bike rides better .. doh .. should have known lol.

Strange that although the ergos are more balanced, I had trouble touching the floor, not like originally, but feels like i need to lower the seat an inch or so, lol.

PS .. all this, is a cheap bodge to get the crf250Rally somewhere near acceptable, ... (for a heavy non-giant) .. it is nowhere nearly as good as a good suspension system.
EG .. my ex. Yamaha TTR600 Belgarda had Ohlins rear and Paouli front, and that suspension was excellent.. shame it was about a foot too tall for me.

It's a 250 Gary, bought it new 5 years ago. YSS rear shock, no front end mods. Kodama Composites bellypan and side protection, Barkbusters. I also modded the left side panel to fit my tools.
