Re: Beta X-Trainer preparation project
The good news is...I completed my tax return.
The even better news is that the DC horn arrived today from Feked Trials Parts in Dorset, plugged it in, and it works! It's from Taiwan (hooray) and not the People's Republic of China.
Engine warning light still on after start-up, so I carefully unpluged the ECU, and even more carefully cleaned the contacts, applied a little ACF50 and a thin bead of waterproof dielectric grease around the perimeter of the plug, taking care than none of the grease got on the pins.
Plugged it back in, started up, and the engine light has gone out!
MOT booked for Tuesday pm.
Have also put a little clear silicone into the joint between the rear light and the (truncated) mudguard, which will hopefully damp out any vibration.
My fix on the graphics was only partly successful...I'm going to try something else out and will let you know it if works.
Sorry, no pics this time.

Back on topic...
Passed MoT today...the tester liked the rear light!
Filled up with petrol on the way back, so can now refill with a measured amount and work out the fuel consumption.

Update on the graphics...repeated the clean with surgical spirit and warm with hairdryer treatment, but put a thin coating of clear automotive silicone sealant on the back of the graphic before pressing down...it seems to have worked!

Mine took 6litres to fill just 2 miles into reserve after 65 miles. I then drained it when I got back and confirmed it has 2.5litres reserve, which is actually much nicer than just 1.5litres.Richard Simpson Mark II wrote: ↑Tue Jan 11, 2022 6:01 pm Back on topic...

Mine came fitted with a big IMS tank, and you can see the petrol in it from the outside, which is handy.

So, about 10 miles to the litre? That's pretty much the same as the Pampera.phil_h wrote: ↑Tue Jan 11, 2022 6:19 pmMine took 6litres to fill just 2 miles into reserve after 65 miles. Re: Beta X-Trainer preparation project
Did about 80 miles of trail-riding on it yesterday. Mix of UCRs from the easy to the horribly steep overgrown and rutted, lined by typical Devon country lanes.
The only thing that fell off was me. Fuel economy better than expected. Always started first push of the button. Easy to ride. No complaints from fellow riders about noise or smoke.
Best trail bike I've ever ridden.
Now needs a little bit more sorting...esp trials tyres and getting to grips with the tubliss system.
