There were some red faces by the time the last of them had got to the top.

Yes that's Simms, Steve, the guy offering encouragement from the side, will have to be quicker on his feet in future as Mike is now astride a new KTM 500 Six Days.

Returning to the X-Trainer...I was thinking, its true place in the market is perhaps where the Kawasaki KDX200 was back in the 1990s.
Never the most powerful or fastest bike for the expert enduro racer, but ideal for sportsman/clubman class in enduro, and just about OK on the road. They used to dominate the entry at enduros back then...what happened to them all?
The X-trainer bonus is that it has LDT potential too....

Short trail ride on the X-Trainer this PM. My companion briefly swapped over from his XR400, and could not believe how light it was..."like handling a mountain bike."
My trials tyres have arrived. Rear Pirellis are difficult to get hold of at the moment, so I've got a Mitas for the back. They don't have the best reputation, but is that just brand snobbery?...we shall see.

I used to use Mitas co2 rear tyres on my DRZ400E and they were pretty good for grip and wear. Despite being a standard size tyre they seem to be a bit physically bigger/chunkier than some other tyres of the same size, if that makes sense, and I found them a bit too snug against the swing arm when I tried them on my KTM. Other than that, they were good.

Thanks Scott.

I've got Mitas EO7/+ on my big KTM, and they are fine. But the trials boys seem quite disparaging about the Mitas Trials tyre. The tread seems a little more flexible than on the Pirellis.

Which rear Mitas have you gone for, they're a bit soft in the sidewall and require more pressure than I'd run an MT43 at. Had one on the CRE and it barely lasted a full day before it spat the tread off.

The guy said it would be Ok for long-distance trials.

He warned me off Michelin..said they would turn to chewing-gum on the road.
