Nicer than a Norden?

Post by Richard Simpson Mark II »

The Norden seems to be a bit of a damp squib...but this looks nice

Couldn't get past 3 minutes because of the appalling robot voice-over. Ducaahti... That Stevie Wonder joke dropped like a stone didn't it?

But as to the bike, yep looks interesting. Four fuel fillers/tanks? As usual weight will be the main question, but looks like a good Maroc bike (well until you get into the Merzouga sand dunes that is...).

Hmmmmm not convinced, where do you put your panniers. Would make the bike about 2m wide
with those rear tanks as well. Probably going to weigh 200kg+++ as well.
I ride a KTM 690 Enduro. Lovely bike, powerful, light, good range as standard. Could do with a better seat, thoough.
I think Ducati would have been better off putting a bigger tank on a desert sled and be done.

But not that would not be enough cubes to massage ADV egos...

Because of course if you ask anyone who actually rides off-road regularly the two things they are always asking for is far more power than is necessary and as heavy as possible please...

I like it and with a decent decal kit would look great. Not much use for travel and a big lump unless you ride somewhere like Australia etc. Shame its low on bhp as the 1290 is twice the power. Admittedly you don't need 160 bhp but its great fun when you use it .
The 690 KTM for me is the better bike but this is new and great to see Ducati entering the market

It seems the 'pannier' fuel tanks are optional/detachable.
It will need better suspension than the Desert Sled, which is really little more than a pose-mobile.

Hmmm looks quite nice that! Why do Ducati and KTM quote dry figures, who rides a bike void of any fluids!!

I do really like it, almost equivalent of the T7 with a few electronic farkles.

Nice dash i think and good suspension with 110HP should be lively.

Nice but prefer the Ducati Desert X Emerge and then change the decals to a decent set and it would look superb. Downside is what about panners etc?
