Re: What have i done?
If you’re heading East from our part of France this road is well worth a look. Lovely twisty bits all the way along, a good road surface and lots of good visibility. It was very quiet when I went along it which is more than you could say about the A75 I crossed at Saint Flour, that was seriously busy.daveuprite wrote: ↑Mon Oct 18, 2021 6:15 pmWe should all do some kind of road trip together. Not dirt bikes for a change. Road bikes. Do all the southern french river gorges maybe, or nip over into italy perhaps. Follow all the green squiggly lines on the Michelin map, just like the old days...diggermanbob wrote: ↑Mon Oct 18, 2021 5:05 pm That is very nice Dave , I have been looking at road bikes again I probably shouldn't but fancy a triumph 1050 st !!!

Re: What have i done?
Yes I might have done that one many years back. I particularly like the inland Languedoc roads West-East - Beziers, Lodeve, Florac, Mende etc, then across the Ardeche to join the Route Napoleon, down to Grasse and then over towards Italy. You can do most of that on D-roads with loads of good scratching stuff. God i love this country for biking.

Re: What have i done?
I also added a handle bar mount for my Garmin Zumo GPS
(You can see in the first picture the earlier mounted power outlet. One 12 V and 2 USB ports)
=
A top box is on the way from Netherlands to Portugal.
But it is lost on the way. Screwed up my the shipping company. Searching is ongoing)
The box will complete the conversion of the bike from a daily rider to a touring bike.

Re: What have i done?
So true P4ulie. But there's physical youth and mental youth isn't there? Of course I'm not the lightweight fairly fit thing I was when i was racing, by no means, but in many ways I'm less mature now than I was then! I had a go at being sensible about 14 years ago when i moved to France. I naively thought that a Honda CBF1000 would make a good all-round road bike for touring and general use. I walked into a showroom and bought one new. Disappointing. It was solid, competent, reliable and reasonably quick I suppose - but just dull. No character, no spark, no interesting quirks. So I decided since then to stick to bikes with something mad about them. TL1000S, ZX10R etc. and a lot of miles in the mud too.
Realistically this might be the last properly very fast hooligan road bike I own, and quite likely the last fossil fuel road bike, so it's nice to go out on an MV. Picking it up Thursday night....

Re: What have i done?
Well the workshop is looking a lot healthier tonight. Just got back with the Brutale, which joins its Italian sisters.
Lots of nice polishing and admiring to do in the next few days. Perhaps there'll be a couple of dry sunny chances to get out on it before winter storage.
Look... When you buy a new MV Agusta you get a wanky presentation case which includes a signed letter from Claudio Castigliani congratulating you on being a rich bastard. Nice touch.
Oh and half a litre of urine...

Re: What have i done?
Nice after my 3 year affair with a Moto Morini I could take a liking to an MV Augusta as my next indulgence or maybe a Moto Guzzi Griso.
Open your eyes and you see what is in front of you, open your mind and you see a bigger picture but open your heart and you see a whole new World.
