Fantic Caballero Scrambler/Rally?
Anyone had a ride on one of these or seen one in the metal?

Yes I saw one in Abergavenny and chatted to the rider, he said it was a hoot, like a DRZ. They look really cool.
And now, Harry, let us step out into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.

Re: Fantic Caballero Scrambler/Rally?
Not seen one in real life, but I do like the look of them...especially in red. Fantic have made some really good bikes, and I don't suppose that that is any different.
Apart from the single shock they look very 1970s trail bike...and as a 'street-scrambler' I suspect they are more 'street' than 'scramble' in terms of ergonomics and handling. Perhaps think of it as a supermoto for the more mature rider.
Greg whateverhisnameis on Youtube did a vid on how he was going to buy one but got an AJP instead.

Re: Fantic Caballero Scrambler/Rally?
Evidently the Rally version is more off road orientated & has 50mm more suspension travel which is adjustable but that unfortunately makes it taller something that I don’t really need these days!

I saw one the other day, a red one, and it looked good; I don't know what cc it was as they look very similar, the 125 and 500. I think they are possibly now Chinese built and maybe owned? An old friend had one of the original Caballeros, i.e the 50cc sports moped - it was the coolest way for a 16 year old to get around, way cooler than the Jap competitors but half as reliable!
Just had a look at their website, and the Caba's look great, just like a bike should imo. I didn't realise they also do e-MTB's as well.

Re: Fantic Caballero Scrambler/Rally?
The bike is built in Italy, the engines come from China, but were designed by Ricardo in the UK (Ricardo designed the engine for the first Triumph motorbike, back before WWI!).
Fantic has purchased the Minarelli engine factory in Italy from Yamaha, so the engines may start coming from Italy too at some point.

Re: Fantic Caballero Scrambler/Rally?
My nearest dealer is Power Start Bikes in Bradford which is 15 miles but I try to avoid Bradford with its reputation as a crash for cash centre of excellence, next nearest is MHB Kirkby Stephen a lot further at 59 miles but a nicer run, maybe I’ll go just for a look though!! I did fancy a Mash 650 X but think the Fantic may be the better bike?
I do like this colour better than the green, there’s some subtle differences to the 2021 model Fantics switchgear, EFI tune etc. A 2019 Fantic just went on eBay for £4.1K with 6K miles so reasonable s/h prices?

Re: Fantic Caballero Scrambler/Rally?
Great engine on the 500 (at least the one I tried. Light and lively bike. Handy on the trails bar the horribly flared side panels.
Re: Fantic Caballero Scrambler/Rally?
I test rode the 500 Scrambler a couple of years ago and loved it. Such a fun bike to ride, but as Nathan said, the side panels are quite annoying. They get in the way of your legs when standing. Offsetting the foot pegs would help.
There’s a couple of German guys on YouTube who’ve done some extensive testing.
