Yeah they are a bit but I'm not sure I'd call the V85TT agricultural or crude like it was earlier in the comments.

To me it's a modern and well executed bike. Good brakes, suspension and nice simple controls. It just lacks a bit of oomph in this category that's all.

Thanks Nathan.

I am looking to replace my S10 which has now done allmost 120000 miles. I was going to have another S10 but do like the look of the V85tt having seen a couple up at the Green Welly last week.

Jim Allen Motorcycles of Falkirk are a Guzzi dealership, I'm sure they'll have a V85 for test ride.

I have got one, had it for just over a year and 8,000miles. It's great. Until a couple of weeks ago I also a BMWR1200GSA. I did about 500 miles on that bike while I had the V85TT so I obviously didn't miss the power and all the other good stuff about the GSA. Most of the 8000 miles has been two up too. Sure, overtaking needs a bit more planning and there's no instant go but it runs along at anything up to 90 or more quite easily. I upgraded the rear shock as it was a bit soft for two-up with a +30mm Wilber's unit. Its surprisingly roomy two-up and very very comfortable. I like the equipment, but best I like the little shake on start up, the slight sideways lurch when revving and the noise. It feels alive.

There's definitely something about Guzzi's. I borrowed a V7 while it was in for a service. Now that bike has character and I really enjoyed the 200miles I did on it, but it was physically too small and even on little lanes I felt it a bit underpowered. But I reckon I could get to live with both those. All of a sudden the Guzzi California looks attractive to me too.

I’ve had Guzzi’s in the past, still have a 850 LeMans. As I’m looking to downsize a bit I’m thinking about something lighter than the current generation 1200 + offerings from most Euro manufacturers. The problem is finding something spacious enough for two up touring - we currently have a K1100LT which is too heavy really and has quite high mileage on it. I perceive the V85 as the most basic but also the most robust of the current offerings which include the ktms (790 and 1090) and the smaller multistrada. We found the F800 a bit too small and it’s getting a bit dated now. Triumphs just aint my thing so looks as if the V85 needs a test ride with the wife.
