Was told recently by an ex works KTM and Honda motocross mechanic to de-pressurise with the fork fully extended otherwise you set up a vacuum in use.Richard Simpson Mark II wrote: ↑Tue Sep 01, 2020 10:33 pm With WP forks, it's worth depressurising the fork and also cleaning the dust boots and seals regularly.

Interesting...the KTM manual explicitly states this should be done with the machine on the side-stand. The purpose is to relieve pressure.

I thought it was with forks extended or you get your eye taken out by a flying screw.
Always how I have burped the forks....not that I ride hard enough to build up any pressure.

Doing it with no weight on the forks would make a slightly more progressive spring action earlier in the stroke.

Re: 701 enduro buying advice
Dear oh dear
You do it with the wheel off the ground, if you do it with any weight on the fork then when they fully extend they will want to pull a slight vacumn, so depending on how much you let them sag when burping the air out they will either ride a bit lower in the travel and/or have a tendency to try suck in the seal when you lift the front end.
