I think they've sorted it for the efi now, all in USA of course, the Bill Blue 351 kit plus EJK fuel controller.

An interesting if pricey option but then again there's no other modern dual sport/trail bike in that ideal 350-400 cc .

maby i had it 18 months and it was very vaugue some had done it but reports of poor fueling and mental fuel consumption were rife . i was looking for a one stop shop as i havnt got the know how to mess with injerction systems ....
thats the problem theres nothing at all out there in the mid size that doesnt require daft maintance
ive had a fair bit of sucsess with me crfs making em work ..its surprising what a early doner bike and 1500 quid will do regarding engines and suspension ..produce a decent little 30odd horse travel bike bullet proof 12ins travel and 12in clearance for around 4k and the klx would be a good project to do similar but parts accessories and kits are pretty much all usa bound ...

talk about a gap in the market ..more like a chasem

back on topic i think its a decent little bike to go exploring on pleasent enough bike as long as your in no hurry ..boshing around the backroads in the dales 60mph is pleanty
whats the wether forcast ..wheres me map

I also liked this on eBay the guy had done a lot at it & it looks to be in great condition but of course a lot older!
The KLX is a good price cheaper than some 10/11/12 reg bikes on eBay.

Other possibilities include AJP and Fantic...if you can make the 'leap of faith' to a minor European marque.

But KTM was just that, once.

To be honest. I’d be tempted to fall back on KTM and go for the 690 Enduro. It’s not much heavier than a CRF250 but is an outstanding all rounder. The CRF is much cheaper though.

But the KTM690/Husky701 is very expensive, complex and some examples seem to be of questionable mechanical reliability.
Should rocker arms be a service item on a premium-priced, non-racing motorcycle, now? This is 2020, not 1920.
I look back at the bikes that were the equivalent of the 690 30 years ago, and Honda XR600s etc would run fine for years just with periodic oil changes and the occasional valve tweak.
I ran a DR350 for a decade, and while it consumed wheel bearings, fork seals, brake pads, etc for fun (unsurprising given the way it was used), the only engine parts it ever used were oil filters. One valve needed a 1/4 turn adjustment, once. And a clutch cable broke, once. I never had the clutch cover off, I never saw the cam chain.
And that was a bike that was regularly trail ridden, kept outside, and went overland to Morocco.

Only time I rode a DR350 was helping out on a round of the Northern British Bike Championship & I did the Kinlochleven loop on one whilst up there for the pre65 trial but I did like it.

I had a KLX for a while, I really liked the suspension but the previous owner had added a really loud can and an EKG to try and get a bit more power, the outcome was deafening and added 1hp. I really liked it off road but the tank range was too small and at the time you couldn't get an upgrade.
And now, Harry, let us step out into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.

You got a 690 now though
Have the mechanicals been sorted in 2022?
